우석대 태권도시범단, 팀대항 종합경연 국내 시니어 통합부문 우승

우석대 태권도 시범단이 2014 세계태권도 한마당대회(이하 한마당) 피날레를 장식했다.

김지윤을 팀장으로 한 11명의 우석대팀은 24일 포항실내체육관에서 열린 한마당 대회 마지막 날 팀대항 종합경연 국내 시니어 통합부문 경기에서 평점 68.70점으로 대회 첫 우승의 영예를 안았다.

팀대항 종합경연 시니어 통합부문은 대회전부터 앞전 대회까지 4연패를 이뤘던 세한대가 참가하지 않으면서 불꽃튀는 경쟁이 예상됐었다.

특히 팀대항 종합경연은 태권도의 기술동작들을 다양하게 창작·구성하는 경연으로 주니어(만 18세이하)와 시니어 통합부문(만 19세 이상)으로 나눠져 있어 시니어부문 특성상 대학생 비율이 높아 매번 대회때마다 각 대학의 명예와 자존심을 건 경쟁을 벌여왔다.

우석대는 예선에서 격파와 착지에서 실수를 범하며 평점 60.80점으로 가까스로 조 3위를 차지해 결선에 올랐다. 그러나 결선에서는 예선의 실수를 만회하며 도약과 함께 공중 세바퀴 회전후 송판을 격파하는 최고난도 신기술을 완벽하게 성공시키면서 우승을 결정지었다.

예선에서 68.80점을 받아 전체 1위로 결서에 오른 전주대는 결선에서 62.80점에 머물로 상지대와 함께 공동 3위를 차지했으며, 경민대가 준우승을 차지했다.

이에 앞서 대회 둘째날인 22일 같은 장소에 열린 국내 공인품새 남자 마스터II(60세 이상)부문에서는 태권도 최고 경지에 이른 이규현(68·공인 9단) 사범이 평점 7.35점으로 대회 3연패의 위업을 이뤘다.

공인품새경기는 고려·금강 등 8가지 유단자 품새중 추첨에 의한 무작위 2품새로 경선을 하게 되며, 이 사범은 중심이동이 가장 어려운 평원과 지태를 배정받았지만 평점 7.40을 받아 금메달을 목에 걸었다.

지난 2012년 대회에 첫 참가해 우승을 차지하며 이목을 집중시켰던 이 사범은 이번 대회까지 같은 부문 3연패를 이루면서 국내 품새부문 최강자임을 확인시켰다.

대회 세째날인 23일에는 배길재(51) 사범이 국내 주먹격파 마스터 통합부문에서 10장의 기와를 격파해 정상에 올랐다.

또 '한마당의 백미'로 꼽히는 손날격파 마스터 통합부문에서는 추해광(53) 사범이 16장의 격파용 벽돌 중 14장을 성공시켜 우승의 영예를 껴안았다.

이 외에 국내여자 공인품새 마스터I부문 금메달은 세계품새선수권대회 7회 우승(2006~2013, 2011 제외)을 차지했던 서영애(53) 사범에게 돌아갔다.

나흘동안 영일만을 뜨겁게 달궜던 2014 태권도 한마당대회는 24일 종합경연 국내 시니어 통합부문 경기를 끝으로 폐막했다.

이날 오후 1시 열린 폐막식에서 정만순 국기원장은 폐회사를 통해 "창조경제도시이자 행복도시로 거듭나고 있는 포항에서 열린 한마당대회를 통해 지구촌 태권도 가족들이 하나가 돼 태권도의 무한한 가치와 우정을 나누는 자리가 됐다"며 "이번 대회의 아름답고 소중한 추억을 간직하면서 내년에 다시 만나자"고 말했다.

한편 이번 대회는 한국MICE진흥재단이 경북도와 지역경제살리기차원에서 경북지역으로 유치된 뒤 박명재 국회의원(새누리·포항 남·울릉)의 요구에 따라 포항에서 열렸다.

포항시는 올초 대회 유치가 확정했으나, 지난 7월 1일 이강덕 시장이 취임한 후 성공적인 대회개최를 위해 심혈을 기울여 왔었다.

Splendid Finale After 4 Days of Heated Contests in World Taekwondo Hanmadang.

The Martial Arts performance team from Woosuk University came to a great finale to the 2014 World Taekwondo Hanmadang. Wooksuk University Team, consisting of eleven players, and their team leader Kim JiYoon, earned the glory of winning the first place for the Senior Division All-Round game of Domestic Groups with an average score of 68.70 on the last day of competition, August 24th at the Pohang Gymnasium. The All-Round game of the Domestic Groups is a contest that presents creative compositions of various techniques and motions of Taekwondo. It is divided into two sectors : Junior and Senior. Junior sector is for players under 18 years of age and the senior sector is for players of 19 years and older. The senior sector is especially competitive since it has a high participation of university students who want to win honors for their schools. The Wooksuk University Team did not get a high score from the group preliminaries. They got an average score of 60.80 which places them third in their group since they had mistakes in breaking and landing. However, at the Finals, they not only redeemed their mistakes but also showed a very high level of the new technique includes breaking tiles perfectly after three rotations in mid-air. It was the technique that determined the victory of WooSuk University. Kyungmin College won the second place. Jeonju University, who was the lead at the group preliminaries with a score of 68.80, gained 62.8 at the finals, resulting in the third place shared with Sangji University.

On the 22nd of August, the second day of Taekwondo Hanmadang, Domestic Official Poomsae Games took place. For the male Masters 2 Sectors for players of age of 60 and older, Master Lee GyuHyun (68, official Poomsae 9th Dan) who attained completeness of Taekwondo won three consecutive victories with an overall average score of 7.35. Domestic Official Poomsae Games has two parts: free Poomsae and appointed Poomsae. Appointed Poomsae is a game that players should present two random Poomsaes chosen from the lottery of eight options consisting of eight different kinds of Poomsaes. Mr. Lee got a gold medal with a score of 7.40 at this sector even though he was assigned the most difficult Poomsae 'Pyungwon' and 'Ji-Tae'. Since his first participation in 2012, he has won recognition as the strongest Taekwondo player in Korea through his continuous victories at the games each year.

On the 23rd of August, the third day of Taekwondo Hanmadang, Master Bae GilJae-who demonstratedfist breaking of 10 tiles-won the first place from the Domestic Fist Breaking Master All-Round Sector. From the Hand Knife Breaking Master All-Round sector, which is the highlight of the Hanmadang, Master Chu HaeKwang (53) won first place. He succeeded in breaking14 tiles of brick out of 16. In addition, Master Seo YoungAe (53), who has won 7 successive years in World Poomsae Championship since 2006(except 2011,) won the first place for Female Master 1 Sector of Domestic Official Poomsae.

Four days of Taekwondo Hanmadang closed on the 24th of August with the final game, Senior Division All-Round game of Domestic Groups. From the closing ceremony Jeong Mansoon, the president of World Taekwondo Headquarters Kukkiwon said, "The Taekwondo Hanmadang held in Pohang functioned as an opportunity for Taekwondo people around the World to become one. Also we have shared the endless value of Taekwondo and friendship among its people. Let's meet next year again with the memory of 2014 The World Taekwondo Hanmadang!"

This contest was first iniated by the Korean M.I.C.E (Meetings Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) Foundation and Gyeongsangbuk-do Province for the purpose of vitalizing the local economy. It was hosted in Pohang City requested by Park MyungJae, a member of the National Assembly. The Hosting was determined at the beginning of this year, and Pohang City has put the best effort to prepare for successful Taekwondo Hanmadang, starting from July after Mayor Lee GangDuk was appointed.
